The lights are not LED – They’re actually cold cathodes, and they’re controlled using remote sockets!

Check out these cold cathodes on amazon.  They are actually pretty cheap.

If Hitachi is your brand, I would recommend this TV instead.  It’s cheaper and it’s 120hz.
